NCIS: New Orleans season 5 spoilers: Joanna Cassidy playing Pride’s mom
Per a report from TVLine, Joanna Cassidy is going to be stopping by CBS crime show for the upcoming May 14 finale entitled “The River Styx: Part II,” one in which Scott Bakula’s character is going to be a doing what he can to stop Apollyon dead in its tracks. There’s going to be at least some sort of twist involving her within this episode, and that, of course, leads to us begging this question: Are we going to be seeing Pride’s mom actually involved in this spy network? Could she be a part of the group responsible for killing Cassius? While this may just be conjecture on our part, it’s certainly something fascinating to think about.
Prior to this appearance, what we’ve learned about Pride’s mother is that her health isn’t altogether great — she needs a caregiver to help take care of her. This is an appearance that could potentially change a good bit of the mythology — at least if it plays out in the way in which we suspect. Why else bring the character on board at a time in which Apollyon is featured so prominently?
Cassidy’s TV resume is certainly lengthy and prominent — in addition to appearing in shows like Body of Proof and Six Feet Under, she’s also been in Falcon Crest, Dallas, The Love Boat, and many other classic series. She brings with her a certain element of TV history and we’re always for bringing that to a show in the modern era. We just wonder how much potential there is in order to see a little bit more of this role down the line. A lot of times, a character appearing in the finale has a good chance of showing up in some greater capacity down the road — we’re just going to wait and see if it happens here.
Just in case you want to know how we even get to the point where Pride’s mother turns up in Part II, check out the synopsis below for Part I, a story that is coming your way on May 7:
“The River Styx, Part 1” – Pride and Lasalle travel to war-torn South Ossetia in Russia to locate FBI Special Agent Raymond Isler (Derek Webster), who was kidnapped during a failed mission to apprehend the leader of Apollyon, the underground spy network responsible for murdering Pride’s father, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, May 7(10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
So clearly, the NCIS: New Orleans finale event is one that is going to take many of these characters far from New Orleans.
