When Calls the Heart actor talks Lori Loughlin departure, scandal

When Calls the Heart

While we’ve heard plenty of opinions as of late in regards to When Calls the Heart and the departure of Lori Loughlin, there’s been one side that has been rather quiet over the past few weeks — some of her former co-stars. The cast and crew of the Hallmark Channel series have mostly just done its best in order to keep their head down and focus on what matters: Getting the job done and trying to make sense of what’s been happening. There have been some re-shoots that needed to be done to properly edit the show without Loughlin’s Abigail around — this season’s going to be complicated as a result, but we do at least know that it’s coming back for a little bit more down the line.

For the first time now, we are at least getting some extensive thoughts about Lori from someone who worked with her on the show. Speaking on the Popcorn Talk Network’s I Could Never Be show, Paul Greene made it clear that everyone is still trying to work through their emotions:

“Everybody has really been very, very careful because it’s a very sensitive time. And it’s very sensitive on, for every side of this thing … Everyone’s like, dotting their i’s and crossing their t’s on the corporate side and it’s, like, every angle you could look at this has had to have been handled very carefully.”

While there does seem to be an understanding among the cast that Hallmark Channel needed to do what they thought was best for the sake of the show, there is also a good bit of support for Lori behind the scenes:

“We’ve all known Lori for a really long time, and, and when someone’s your friend and something happens to them, you don’t stop being their friend. You support, no matter what happens.”

These comments are where it’s clear that at least for some, there is a distinction between working with someone and being friends with someone. The cast of When Calls the Heart can move forward with their jobs and still have love for Lori as a person. They’ve worked with her for many years; people who work together on set often work extremely long days and go through a lot together. It’s an intense bonding experience, and not one that can be easily replicated in just about any other venue.
