You may have heard a thing or two already about Snoop Dogg appearing on Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 22. Meanwhile, we now have a little more scoop on precisely what sort of role he would be playing.

We’ve wondered for some time what role the legendary rapper would be playing in this episode, entitled “Diss” — would he be playing himself? Would this be some sort of cameo? As it turns out, not so much. Instead, we’ll be seeing Snoop play instead a recording artist who finds himself at the center of a case all about a war of words between him and another artist. Snoop isn’t the only famous performer who is a part of this episode — you’re also going to see Sleepy Hollow alum Orlando Jones play a prominent part as well as Greek alum Amber Stevens West.

For a few more details about this case, take a look at the full SVU season 20 episode 22 synopsis below:

05/02/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : SNOOP DOGG GUEST STARS — When a pop star is assaulted in her home, the SVU investigates the public feud between her rapper husband (guest star Orlando Jones) and a competing recording artist (guest star Snoop Dogg). Meanwhile, Fin’s (Ice T) family ties to a suspect takes him off the case. Also starring Mariska Hargitay, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino and Philip Winchester. Also guest starring Amber Stevens West (Dallas Monroe), L. Scott Caldwell (Jo Anderson), Deandre Leatherbury (Andreas Harper), Elizabeth Tate (Vickie Lewis) and Milan Marsh (Lexie Monroe).

For Fin, this is a case that could be about frustration. He’s a pretty closed-off guy, but one of the things that we’ve come to know about him over the years is that he wants to come into work, do his job, and then go home. He values being able to do what he can out in the field without much getting in his way. He’s not going to be altogether happy with the idea of being plucked off of a case simply due to someone that he knows. Do we still think that it’s probably for the best? Sure. It’s mostly an issue of optics, given that the SVU doesn’t want to present an image where it looks at all like a conflict of interest is driving a case. That’s them protecting themselves as a unit, but also at the same time them protecting Fin and making sure that nothing ends up happening to him as a result to this case. He’s a guy who’s been a part of SVU for so long that the last thing that we want to see is for him to be shipped off before we get around to season 20.
