Madam Secretary season 5 episode 20 (finale) spoilers: ‘Better Angels’
Story-wise, we know where the stakes are for one Elizabeth McCord. She’s preparing to leave her post in this episode in order to run for President, which really is that big moment we’ve all been waiting for! However, shortly before she gets her chance to do so, it appears as though someone is going to come in and try to thwart those plans. Who is that someone? Think terrorists. We don’t think that they’ve chosen to attack an important delegation specifically to stop McCord from announcing (that’s more or less just a coincidence), but this is going to throw the Secretary of State into a little bit of peril.
For a little bit more news as to what’s coming up next, we suggest that you check out the official Madam Secretary season 5 episode 20 synopsis:
“Better Angels” – As Elizabeth prepares to leave the state department and announce her run for president, anti-globalist terrorists attack the United Nations delegation in Geneva who are there to sign the climate migration treaty, on the fifth season finale of MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, April 21 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Theoretically, it’s possible that Elizabeth may have to delay her announcement to deal with the issue in Geneva — or, we suppose there could also be a situation here where she decides to not run for President on the other side of doing this. She does seem to be in deep thought about something in the image above. (Personally, we still hope that she does still run, mostly because we’ve spent so much time on this story and it’ll feel almost a little anticlimactic if she chooses to not go through with it now.) We’d be down for watching a season 6 that is all about Elizabeth running for President and everything that goes into that — think the various successes and failures. It’s never a perfect process, but all of us at this point could probably appreciate watching an election based more on optimism in the midst of all of the negative, depressing stuff we’ve seen these days.
