Line of Duty season 5 episode 4 preview: ‘Who is H?’ intensifies

Line of Duty

When Line of Duty season 5 episode 4 airs on BBC One next week, don’t expect things to become any more ordinary. We saw the raid on Eastfield take place tonight, in one was effectively a tense, dramatic stand-off between the folks at AC-12 and the OCG they are currently investigating. At the center of everything tonight was the search for the rogue officer, the one who may be bringing just about everything together. Corbett had promised being able to bring AC-12 the person they really wanted, and at one point during the episode tonight, Hargreaves was shot and then unmasked by the police.

Within that moment, it was very much clear that Hargreaves was perhaps deeper involved in corruption than anyone first knew. Yet, finding him tonight doesn’t necessarily equate to him being H. One of the things that we’ve come to learn about Line of Duty is that sometimes there is a bigger bad hidden behind a big bad, and that could almost certainly be the case here. There’s likely something or someone still lurking behind the scenes, and trying to better understand that will be essential to the final episodes of this season. We imagine AC-12 within a state of massive paranoia, one where cops could easily turn on each other.

Below, CarterMatt offers the full Line of Duty season 5 episode 4 synopsis, one containing all sorts of scoop when it comes to what lies ahead:

Tensions rise in the OCG following the events at Eastfield … With troubling questions hanging over the identity of ‘H’, suspicions mount at AC-12.

Beyond what’s mentioned in this short synopsis, we think that the top priority at the moment is clear: Finding out what is going on with Ted’s wife, who seems to be firmly targeted at the end of tonight’s episode. She did the right thing trying to call her husband … but may not even do anything to give someone an opportunity to get into the house? Shouldn’t she know that for certain at this point?

Then, there’s also this other problem: Corbett. Where does he actually stand in the midst of all the chaos on this show? While it doesn’t seem as though he started off as one of the bad guys within the OCG, killing Hargreaves seems to be leading him to turn in that direction. It’s almost as though he’s had now that epic moment of breaking bad now and he’s going to be an increasingly harder man to figure out and stop as the remainder of this season goes along.
