NCIS season 17: See Mark Harmon, Wilmer Valderrama celebrate renewal

There’s a good chance that you heard the fantastic news yesterday — NCIS is coming back for a season 17! While we don’t think that anyone out there was necessarily surprised about the news, there is something relieving about just having it out in the universe. It’s nice to look towards the horizon and know that Mark Harmon and the rest of the cast is there.

Now, it’s also enjoyable to see the entire group celebrating the show coming back for more! In a new post on Twitter, Wilmer Valderrama shared a quick reaction from himself, Mark Harmon, Sean Murray, and Emily Wickersham — the primary agents out in the field — after the good news came in. It’s short, but also amusing — mostly when Wilmer puts Mark on the spot for some words of congratulation and it’s pretty clear soon after this that he doesn’t know what to say. Mark is not a social-media savant; what else can you say? It’s mostly just nice to see the cast all laughing and having a good time with each other out in the field; it’s certainly the sort of thing that bodes well for more positivity and fun on this show moving forward to season 17 and potentially beyond.

At the moment, what’s 100% confirmed is that we’re going to see season 17 starting this fall, and we imagine that the cast will reconvene to get to work crafting some more exceptional stories once we get around to the summer. That’s the rhythm and the pattern for this show and there is basically a ZERO percent chance that CBS is going to want to shake things up unless, for whatever reason, they’ve got no other choice. This show is successful via routine; it premieres typically on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. Eastern and because of the lead-in equity it provides, we don’t see them ever wanting to move it.

Now as for what we want to see on the next batch of episodes, hopefully, it will include McGee feeling good about his spot on the team, the aftermath of whatever is going on with Secretary of Defense Wynn Crawford, and more teases about the long-mysterious Ziva storyline that was first established in “She.” We’re building towards something with this plotline, but there’s no clear timeline on when we’re going to get some more answers all about it.
