Lucifer (Lucifer & Chloe) vs. Luther (Luther & Alice) – Crime Dynamic Duos 2019
For this particular battle, we’ve got a pair of shows with at least one odd thing in common — they’re each named after their main character, and if you say the two fast enough they’ll probably come off your lips sounding the same. Beyond that though, Lucifer and Luther are very different, as are the characters at the heart of them in Lucifer & Chloe and then Luther & Alice. We’ll be spotlighting all in this showdown, and of course leaving it to you in order to determine your favorite of the mix.
If you’ve been around for past editions of Crime Dynamic Duos, then you know a thing or two about how this works — at the bottom of this article is a poll to vote for who you want to see advance! One duo will, and at the end of the month, we’ll officially crown the champion in all of their glory.
How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Tuesday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Whoever wins here is going to face off against one of two interesting duos — think in terms of either Gibbs & Sloane from NCIS or Burgess & Ruzek from Chicago PD. Basically, one of these non-traditional duos today will be facing off against a slightly-more-traditional one next time around.
You can see the full bracket (including start dates for each individual round) in the graphic at the top of this article.
The competitors
Lucifer & Chloe, Lucifer (#1 seed) – They are the reigning champions of this tournament from last year, and they’re back ready for another run at the title! We understand why they are the title holders given the love they have for each other, and also the skill they possess in the field.
Of course, when Lucifer season 4 does premiere this spring, you’re going to see these two characters forced to tackle a few different things in order to keep their partnership on track — mostly, they gotta deal with the fact that Lucifer actually is the Devil. Yes, he can fall back on the fact that he technically told Chloe the truth prior to the season 3 finale, but you can’t just expect a normal person (or at least someone who thinks they are a normal person) to 100% believe you when you tell them that you’re not exactly a typical human being. If they can figure out where they stand after the revelations of the finale, they can strengthen perhaps more than ever and kick some serious bad-guy butt.
Luther & Alice, Luther (#8 seed) – Meanwhile, who we’ve got here are a pair of characters who are coming to the table with their own unique set of skills … but ones that don’t always put the two in lockstep. Technically, Alice can be a partner to John in that she can help him track down some other bad people, but you can’t quite give her a badge when she’s certainly got a history of bad behavior herself – like really bad behavior!. The relationship between the two has always been compelling, and that’s probably why there remains as much enthusiasm around them as there is — even if Alice isn’t even in every season of the show!
Note that we’re leaving a lot of things ambiguous here, as the latest season of Luther has yet to premiere in America — the last thing we’d want to do is give something away within a poll article for those waiting to watch it, but Alice’s participation in that season has already been long confirmed.
