Arrow season 7: Emily Bett Rickards, cast start to wrap things up

Arrow

While we may have to wait for a little while in order to see the end of Arrow season 7 on television, things are at the end of the road for the cast and crew’s time in Vancouver!

This weekend, the cast and crew held their annual wrap party, which certainly has a greater sense of significance this time around given that it’s the final season for Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak. In a post on Twitter, you can see Katherine McNamara (Mia) signaling the end of filming with this Queen-Smoak family photo. Isn’t it nice to get all three of them in the same exact place? It may be one of the final times that you see that, based on whatever happens as we inch closer to season 8.

Let’s make one thing clear: Just because there’s a wrap party doesn’t mean that things are 100% done in production. Wrap parties are usually scheduled in the way in which they are so that the bulk of the cast can attend; if they waited until the entire cast was done, many of the cast and crew would already be out of town. It’s a celebration of near-completion mixed a little bit with convenience.

How many spoilers can be taken from wrap parties? Pretty much zero. We know that there are a lot of people who try to parse things out for little details (“this person is there! Why isn’t THAT person there?”) but we’ve found over the years that you can’t actually take all that much away from any of these. You’re better off just relishing in the story that you get, especially with a show like this given that there are only so many episodes still to go and Arrow, (at least under the Beth Schwartz regime) has been super-coy about giving out too many spoilers. We get it, though every now and then we find ourselves yelling “just give us something!” in the middle of these breaks.

What’s still to come this season?

Obviously, seeing however Felicity exits is the most important thing right now since it’s going to be super strange having ten more episodes of this show without her. In our mind, we like to imagine it as only nine and she’ll come back for the series finale or at least Crisis on Infinite Earths … but that’s probably us just telling ourselves what we needs to in order to get through the day. Nothing has been confirmed for the future for Felicity, or even McNamara, for that matter. It’s not 100% just yet if this flash-forward convention that we’ve had for most of season 7 is something that is meant to carry through the end of the season.

What we can tell you is that Arrow is returning later this month with an appearance from Caity Lotz as Sara Lance. You can read a little bit more about that over at the link here, and we recommend letting us know in the comments what you’d like to see the rest of the way this season — and how sad you are at the idea of stuff starting to wrap up.
