Is NCIS: Los Angeles new tonight? Discussing the season 11 future

NCIS: Los Angeles

Is NCIS: Los Angeles new tonight on CBS? Within this CarterMatt article, we’re going to get to the bottom of that — while also sharing a few other teases on the future of the show while we are at it.

The bad news that we must report now is this: We’re on a little bit of a hiatus. Because of the Academy of Country Music Awards airing on CBS in primetime, Sam, Callen, Deeks, and Kensi are getting a bit of a breather. It’s only for a week, as the show is coming back next week and facing arguably its biggest threat to date: Game of Thrones. Who wants to air opposite that? Somehow, we imagine that the team will find away — after all, it seems like everyone is prepared for there to be a season 11 of this show.

As a matter of fact, we can certainly tell you that the team behind the scenes is planning with that in mind. In a new post on Twitter, unit production manager Rick Tunell confirmed earlier this week that production on season 10 is wrapping up, but there are two more episodes being filmed. It’s a fairly common practice for a network to “bank” a couple of episodes for the next season in anticipation of a renewal. That seems to be what is going on here. There’s a lot of confidence that the show will come back to CBS and now it’s just a matter of getting the necessary ducks in a row and having it happen.

Of course, here is where we give you the all-important slice of news that you don’t want to take anything as a guarantee more episodes are coming — remember that Lucifer had banked a couple of episodes last year for a potential season 4, only to still be canceled by Fox anyway.

When NCIS: Los Angeles does return next week…

Be prepared for an episode that will be especially emotional for Sam as he works in order to ensure that vengeance is granted following the death of a Navy SEAL. Sam’s not the sort of man who you want to anger, mostly because we’ve seen him take on cases that are especially personal to him. Down the road this season, we know that there are multiple JAG cast members coming by for what is one of the biggest reunions we’ve seen for that show since it initially wrapped up its run. There may not be much scoop out there in the way of circumstance, but the idea of the reunion itself should prove to be cause for a great celebration.
