Whiskey Cavalier season 1 episode 6 review: Look who has a baby!
This week ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier was both funny and serious all in one. It was a great time watching the group interact with the baby, but it also brought forward an important issue of smuggling babies. It’s a dark world we know exists that many of us put in the back of our minds, favoring that motto of “out of sight, out of mind.”
The biggest difference this week was the lack of sexual tension between Will and Frankie. Since London, Will has been dating Emma, the MI-6 agent and things seem to be going smoothly. On the other hand, Frankie is obviously jealous and while we like Emma, she’s not our stubborn Frankie.
The other big kicker this week is that while dealing the smuggling ring, the group ends up with a baby that they are charged with taking care of. Everyone in the group bonds with the baby and is completely smitten, except Jai, who pushes back. Surprisingly though, Frankie is great with kids and has even thought about having a little girl herself. It’s a moment of vulnerability for Frankie because we saw a part of her we could have only guessed existed. It was also a moment that we love to see.
In the end our team completes the mission, but not without help from a CIA agent who has been undercover with the people involved in the smuggling operation. Now this episode did a great job at making the audience believe that Martyna is the villain of the whole operation, because there has to be a villain. However, she’s not and the team is able to carry out their mission. Meanwhile, back on the home front Ray sits this one out, but a familiar temptation faces Ray. As he waits to hear news from the team, he and Emma have drinks and bond. Now while the temptation appears to suggest Ray will once again hurt Will, he resists.
CarterMatt Verdict
Overall, the series is really shaping up to be something special. It’s establishing the comedic tone while still bring the action that makes this show exciting to watch. Will and Frankie are easy to get invested in as they struggle to resist each other and by showing us that Frankie is jealous it all but confirms the series is foreshadowing a happy ending for these two.
