Chicago PD season 6 episode 19 return date; what’s next?

The obviously-sad news at the moment is that you’re going to be waiting for a good while to see what’s coming up next. There’s no new episode until Wednesday, April 24 — otherwise known as three weeks from tonight! The obvious good news worth talking about right now is that there ARE going to be a bunch of new episodes coming your way in May. That’s not something that we’re going to have with a lot of other shows! It reduces the total length of the hiatus, which is almost certainly going to run until we get around to the end of September. Of course, you ARE trading off that shorter hiatus for a frustrating one here, especially since you probably were hoping for consistent new episodes for the rest of the season.
As for what’s coming up the rest of the season, our feeling is that we’re going to be building up for the election either in the finale or close to it. We actually just had the results come in for the election in Chicago, but there was never any guarantee that this show was going to follow what was going on in the real world in some sort of real-time nature.
The Mayoral results are important, but let’s not rule out some other things here, either. Take, for example, really giving us a good sense of where things stand when it comes to Upton’s personal life, and whether or not we start to see things eventually become a little more akin to a love triangle. We are also curious as to how Atwater is feeling and doing after that harrowing storyline had had a little bit earlier this season — he’s had some big, powerful storylines, but as is often the case for Chicago PD, the writers only tend to have time for big spotlight episodes a few times a season.
Eventually, we’re going to make it through to the finale and with that, we’re yearning for some more, specific stuff that’s going to make our hair stand on end and leave us questioning what in the world is going to happen next. We know there’s already a renewal, so that should give them more flexibility!
