The Blacklist season 6 episode 17 spoilers: Who wants info on Katarina?

The Blacklist season 6 episode 17 could end up bringing one of the show’s great mysteries to the table: Katarina Rostova. Liz Keen’s mother is obviously a huge part of the mythology, and we understand at least a few things in terms of her behavior, the relationship that she had with Raymond Reddington (at least the real one), and also how the imposter Reddington perceived her in “Cape May.” We’ll argue it now, and we’ll continue to argue it until we pass out somewhere from exhaustion arguing about it — that episode is going to be one of the most important of this entire series in retrospect. When the answers finally click about Reddington’s true identity, we imagine that it will be all the more fascinating to go back and re-watch that episode again. We may even do that again over the summer since it’s easily our favorite episode of this show of all time.

For now, let’s talk about why season 6 episode 17 is going to be so important in terms of getting more information on Liz’s mother — it has to do mainly with the person seeking out the intel. It’s not Liz, and it’s certainly not Reddington (which makes sense, especially given some of the theories that are out there suggesting that the imposter Reddington and Katarina are actually one and the same) — it’s Ressler! We’ve thought for a while that he would be the one who would take on the title of “person who wants answers on Reddington,” but what we did not imagine is that along the way, we would see the character start to look into Katarina … unless there’s something that happens beforehand that sends him down this road.

Whatever Ressler finds in this episode could prove important to establishing his future with Liz — she’s not going to be thrilled that he’s investigating her mother without her knowing, but if that turns out to be useful information, will she forgive him? Will she be happy to leave Pandora’s Box largely unopened? We just have to see how things go from point A to point B — and hopefully, before Ressler makes it to point Z where he and Liz are in lockstep because we’re pretty sure that Donald doesn’t want her as an enemy. We saw what she did in the 100th episode…
