God Friended Me finale spoilers: Derek Luke to play Henry Chase

God Friended Me finale

The God Friended Me finale is coming to CBS on Sunday, April 14, and we all have an additional reason to be excited now. After all, Derek Luke is playing Henry Chase! This is a character who’s long been at the center of mystery this season, mostly thanks to his past with Simon and his possible involvement with the God Account. He’s someone who clearly likes to be in hiding, but something coming up on the show is going to change that. Could that be Miles and Cara tracking him down? That’s very much possible.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official God Friended Me finale synopsis with some more insight as to what’s coming up:

“Que Sera Sera” – Miles, Cara and Rakesh finally come face to face with the elusive Henry Chase (Derek Luke) when the God Account sends Miles Simon Hayes’ (Adam Goldberg) name, on the first season finale of GOD FRIENDED ME, Sunday, April 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Getting Simon’s name via the God Account is a powerful turn for the show, mostly because of his status as the guy supposedly running it for most of the season. This is when the man in charge becomes the man in need of help, and there’s something fascinating about that. It really brings everyone together and that’s the real message of this show. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about the wealthy or the poor, those with faith or those without it. It’s possible that the God Account is going to help everyone in one way or another.

We also wouldn’t be surprised if this finale raises some sort of deep questions or has you wondering even more regarding what the show’s season 2 future could hold. The writers were probably at least reasonably hopeful in a renewal at the time it was ordered, so they likely created a conclusion here that would set the stage for some more awesome stuff to come — think in terms of some touching, powerful stories with a lot of humor and heart at the same time. This show has been a breath of fresh air and we have to hope that the tone and the style stays the same moving into the next batch of episodes in season 2.

Beyond just getting to see Derek Luke as Henry Chase, let’s also hope for the finale to give us some good news on the future of Miles and Cara’s relationship. Can’t the two find a way to make this relationship work?
