Outlander notes: The latest via Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan

Outlander

Who’s interested in diving into some of the latest in our CarterMatt Outlander notes? We’re still waiting to get some glimpses of the cast actually filming season 5, but there’s certainly some assorted things that are happening around that.

Take, for example, Caitriona Balfe giving her Lady in Red portrait a home at the studio. Caitriona is at the show’s home base in Cumbernauld, which is where much of the cast will spend a good bit of time over the coming months. This city (located not too far from Glasgow) is where a lot of the interior scenes are filmed for the show. Even when you are telling a story that is reasonably nomadic in nature and requires a good bit of shuffling about, there is a certain degree of value to having a place that feels like home. (If you want to see a fun reveal featuring Caitriona and her portrait, check out her new Instagram Stories.)

In decorating the studio and also settling in, Caitriona and the remainder of the cast will be preparing to spend many months there. After all, Outlander production is going to encompass the majority of the year, especially with it starting a little bit later than many initially thought.

Want to support Sam Heughan’s latest charity endeavor?

Odds are, you’ve heard a thing or two about his work with Cahonas Scotland — an organization that helps to raise awareness and help those dealing with testicular cancer. Today, he’s doing that via a new t-shirt campaign, one where the entirety of the profits will be going directly to the charity. Sam’s got a giving heart and a desire to make the world a little bit better for everyone, so there’s nothing about this that should surprise anyone. We hope that this is a tradition that lasts for him through the remainder of making Outlander and beyond.

We know that fans of Sam and fans of Outlander have already done some amazing things; after all, these fans did their part to help preserve and save an iconic East Lothian water wheel that was featured previously on the show. They understand that being a support of Outlander goes beyond the story; it actually stems out to supporting the cast and crew in all of their endeavors.
