‘American Idol’ notes: Mariah Carey drama; Paul McDonald’s ‘Breaking Dawn’

There continues to be some interesting stuff happening in the world of “American Idol” this week, and we’ll start things off with the latest chapter in what seems to be a story that will continue to play out for the months ahead leading up to the show’s premiere: whether or not Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj can actually coexist on the same judging panel. It’s pretty clear based on the recent blow-up during the Charlotte auditions that the two do not like each other, and this only escalated on Thursday when Carey told Barbara Walters that Minaj made a comment about hypothetically “shooting” her that the “Super Bass” rapper has since blasted as being untrue and designed to garner sympathy.

So what’s the latest issue? That Carey is supposedly upset that the feud ended up being leaked to TMZ mere minutes after the blowup happened. Here is what a source supposedly close to the superstar had to say to The Huffington Post:

“Mariah has been in the business for a long time and has seen it all but never has she had anything leaked from a closed set … The fact that the producers are not searching to find out how this footage and audio got leaked tells you who was behind it.”

Sadly, Mariah’s in for a rude awakening here when it comes to reality TV: everything is a tabloid headline. If she thinks it is bad now, wait until the show is actually airing.

Paul McDonald’s song list – In other news, season 10 star Paul McDonald has landed a major break: getting a song on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” soundtrack alongside his wife Nikki Reed. The song is entitled “All I’ve Ever Needed,” and he joins such other artists as Feist and Christina Perri in getting songs to appear on this album.
