Madam Secretary season 5 episode 19 return date for Tea Leoni, cast
We want to go ahead and get all of the bad news all at one time — there is no new episode airing on CBS next week. What’s the reason for that? Blame the Academy of Country Music Awards. This happens every year and 2019 is no exception. There are two more episodes still to come, but you’re going to be waiting for them a little while.
Here’s the good news, however — when Madam Secretary does return, it’ll be offering you one of the biggest stories of the season in “Carrying the Gold.” If you consider yourself one of those people yearning to get more news on Elizabeth running for office, you may get it here. Tea Leoni’s character knows that she is nearing the finish line and because of that, she just has to figure out the answer to one important question: How does she want to run? You have to figure out the right timing to make the announcement … and you also have to prepare for some potential landmines to be thrown your way. You’re going to see one of those come in the form of some false allegations about Bess and President Dalton:

“Carrying the Gold” – As Elizabeth prepares to officially declare her candidacy for president, she must deal with fallout from a news article alleging she had an affair with President Dalton during her CIA days. Also, Mike B. and Jay adjust to the growing pains in their expanded roles as campaign staffers, and Elizabeth calls for a UN criminal tribunal against Myanmar military leaders over their treatment of the Rohingya, on MADAM SECRETARY, Sunday, April 14 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Jane Pauley guest stars as herself.
This episode is going to be perfect for those out there who like to see the intersection of politics and the media. We imagine that Pauley’s appearance is tied to Elizabeth denying the allegations — we don’t think the timing is really all that right for her to announce her candidacy at the same time, and that’s largely just due to making sure the big announcement is all positive. You don’t want to mix anything else in there if you can help it.
Here’s one other question we wonder: Could we see more of Mike B. in a potential season 6? In the event that the show gets renewed and Lethal Weapon doesn’t, we wouldn’t be altogether surprised if Kevin Rahm does come back with a significantly larger role.
