Fear the Walking Dead season 5, NOS4A2 premiere dates revealed
Ahead of the show’s panel at WonderCon (which we were at yesterday — a great time was had by all), the network revealed that Sunday, June 2 will be the show’s launch date, with it airing at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. The timing here’s pretty much perfect, given that it avoids Game of Thrones and gets to take a generous bite out of the summer TV real-estate market.
We’ve gotten a chance to learn a smattering of details so far about season 5 of the Walking Dead spin-off, including that a denim factory could be a central setting and that Austin Amelio is coming over in the role of Dwight, who was a part of the flagship shown for some time:
In Fear the Walking Dead Season 5, the group’s mission is clear: locate survivors and help make what’s left of the world a slightly better place. With dogged determination, Morgan Jones leads the group with a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts. But trust won’t be easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when our group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.
We love Morgan as much as the next person, but does anyone else find it weird that he’s being billed as the main character now given that he just showed up on this show this past week?
As for NOS4A2…
The adaptation is going to come your way at 10:00 p.m. on June 2, with new episodes airing weekly. However, AMC Premiere subscribers are going to have a chance to watch all of the new episodes at once, similar to what the network has done with some other shows in the past. You can see some of the first video footage from the show (which stars Zachary Quinto) below; here’s the logline with some additional insight:
Vic McQueen is a young, working-class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland, a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself. Based on the novel by Joe Hill.
For those curious in a little bit of additional behind-the-scenes news, there is a little bit of AMC connective tissue with this show! After all, NOS4A2 is being executive-produced by Jami O’Brien, who a lot of people may not for her work on Hell on Wheels.
