The Blacklist season 6 episode 13 is arriving on NBC come Friday night as a part of an epic two-hour block, and the promo below makes it very clear as to who Robert Vesco really is.
The first reason to be excited for Vesco is simple: Stacy Keach is playing the part! He’s an accomplished performer with a long list of huge achievements — we’ve also seen him on a number of other great crime shows as of late including NCIS: New Orleans and Blue Bloods. Here, he’s playing Vesco as a smart, shrewd criminal, one who just so happens to be one of the few people who has ever gotten the upper hand on Raymond Reddington. This is not an easy thing for anyone to do but for one reason or another, he has found a way in order to make it happen. He also just so happens to be Reddington’s mentor.
So what happens when Vesco has something that Reddington wants? Well, this seems to be the big impetus for the first hour, where we’re going to see James Spader’s character find a way to alternate between being happy to be out of prison and being very interested in finding a way to get one over on the guy who helped make him into the master criminal he is.
Obviously, come for the classic Blacklist story, and then stay for the opportunity to see Spader and Keach butt heads. There are very few things better within this world.
Of course, this is far from the only story ahead…
This video does also give you a small tease on the Osterman Umbrella Company, the mystery group who is going to be a focus of the second episode coming up. What we know about these people is that they’ve got a real knack for taking out some of their targets in secret, and then killing off some of their former agents when they are no longer of use to them. They’re a group of people you really don’t want to know since if you do, that means that they are probably going to want to kill you.
One other question that we’re left to wonder about is simply this: Is the Umbrella Company out to get rid of the Task Force? Based on the previews that are out there entering this episode, we know that someone is desperate to try and take them down. It just makes sense that these people would … even if it’s slightly out of their typical M.O. Maybe someone wants them taken out badly enough — there are certainly people who do when you think about the people over in the White House. Even with Anna overseeing the Task Force, how long do you think that the President is really going to be patient? Probably not that long.
