Good Trouble episode 13 (finale) spoilers: Jamal’s trial, a wedding, & more

Excited to check out Good Trouble episode 13? The final episode of the season is coming a week from today and based on early signs, there is a LOT going on. You’ve got a wedding, possible betrayals, workplace controversy, and a whole lot more. You’re also going to see an especially social-conscious story when it comes to Jamal’s trial. There’s a lot of great stuff coming that will both put a cap in this story and then also set the stage for a season 2. (Remember now that Good Trouble already has a season 2 renewal — even if the ratings leave something to be desired here and there, we do still think there’s a lot of enthusiasm for this show on the Freeform end. They love this show and want to see it succeed.)

So want to know what’s actually coming up story-wise? Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Good Trouble finale synopsis with some other news as to what’s coming:

Jamal’s trial begins, along with the Black Lives Matter protest Malika has organized, leaving Callie in a difficult position knowing she has information that could help Jamal’s lawyers. Mariana gets some new information about the salaries at Spekulate from an unlikely ally, forcing her to make a decision about whether or not to release the spreadsheet outlining the pay gap. Meanwhile, Sumi’s wedding day is here, and it’s time for Alice to face her emotions head-on.

By the end of the episode, we’re hoping to get a better sense as to how Alice feels, where Mariana stands when it comes to Spekulate, and then also where Callie stands in the thick of things with the trial. Kudos to the writers, who have built up this story throughout the year like a runaway locomotive. It’s gotten faster, more dramatic, and more intense with each passing moment … and now, we’re at that point where it could either start moving at full speed or come to a full stop. Will this season end with slamming on the brakes, or will it keep chugging along? There’s potential to deliver a big-time cliffhanger and we know that this producing team does like their cliffhangers. Just take a look at what we saw on The Fosters for a little bit more in the way of evidence of that.

When could season 2 premiere?

We’ll have some more discussion on the other side of the finale next week, but the most likely scenario is that we see it back in early 2020. This show has a lot of stories to tell, especially since so much of it is about the struggle; we want Callie and Mariana to be happy, and they will be at various times in the journey. It’s just not going to be like that every second of the day, given that this so very rarely happens in life.
