Dynasty season 2 epoisode 16 preview: Blake throws a party!

Next week on Dynasty season 2 episode 16, it’s party time — though, of course, we expect this party to work out in very different ways than previously expected. How often are TV parties ever good … seriously? There’s either someone getting hurt, someone getting into a fight, someone crying tears into the punch bowl, or someone hooking up with someone else. Maybe in this episode, you’ll actually see several of these happen! There’s no real telling with this show…

What we know, first and foremost, is that the title here is “Miserably Ungrateful Men” and we’re loving it. So much the word on “ungrateful” is used on TV to relate to the character of the spoiled daughter; the politics surrounding it are often sexist, and the spoiled male character doesn’t really get the same attention. That’s what makes the world of Dynasty a little more fascinating; the digs are equal-opportunity as is some of the ridiculousness related to a lot of the individual characters. You’ll a lot of this news week as Blake decides to throw a party … and we’ll see exactly what happens as a result of that.

PRODIGAL DAUGHTER – When a damaging article is released that threatens the strength of the Carrington reputation, Fallon (Elizabeth Gillies) seeks to get ahead of the narrative by fast tracking a slate-cleaning memoir. Meanwhile, Blake (Grant Show) throws a celebratory party, and Cristal (Ana Brenda Contreras) asks Sam (Rafael De La Fuente) to chaperone an intimidating visitor while she attempts to manage a tricky situation. Garrett Oakley and Bryce Schramm wrote the episode, which was directed by Jeff Byrd (#216). Original airdate 3/29/2019.

So who is the main driving force for the show now?

It’s fair to raise some questions in the midst of what has been a dramatically reworked show this year. The first “Cristal” is gone, as is Steven as a full-time character (at least for tonight), and tonight we saw the end of Nicollette Sheridan’s Alexis. It’s possible that another Alexis could surface down the line, but that’s something to focus on when it happens. Because Dynasty can be akin to visiting a big-top circus, there’s a lot of wackiness that can unfold at just about any moment and you have to be prepared for something unusual to come out into the three rings at just about any given moment.

Fallon, for us, remains the #1 pull on this show. We view a lot of the world through this lens and she does get some great one-liners — you’ve seen several throughout the promos for this season so far, and perhaps even more as the finale inches closer to popping up and waving “hello.” (There are still 22 episodes this season, so you gotta wait for at least a little while.)
