NCIS season 16 episode 19 spoilers: A look into Sloane’s past

Looking for a big Maria Bello episode of NCIS? Season 16 episode 19 should prove to be up your alley and it’s about time! She’s a marquee performer on a marquee show and yet, there are really only so many chances to give her a big spotlight. What NCIS is doing is basically tossing around a magic beanbag — whoever catches it, they get a big episode, but they have to pass it off to someone else before long.

Well, in this episode Sloane is getting the beanbag and she’s going to be at the center of a story with some painful ramifications. We’re talking about an active-shooter situation, a devastating crisis that may hit a little close to hope for some people out there in the country. It’s a situation that you never want to see — as a matter of fact, it’s a crisis that shouldn’t happen at all. Alas, NCIS doesn’t get to pick and choose their cases. They have to have their finger on the pulse of life; they’re used to taking on difficult, at times emotionally-taxing cases. This one is just at the top of the list since you are dealing with a possible loss of life.

“Perennial” – Following an active shooter lockdown at a naval hospital, the NCIS team searches for a suspect who fled the scene. Also, someone from Sloane’s past was inside the hospital and is a key witness in the case, on NCIS, Tuesday, April 9 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

If there’s a sign of hope for the hospital, there’s no 100% confirmation that this potential active shooter hurt anyone. Maybe it was a threat more so than action, and even if there was action, we can’t imagine NCIS (a show airing during family hour) airing anything especially traumatizing. What’s probably going to be more important in the long-term is getting a chance to understand more of who Jack Sloane is outside the office — or at least at a prior place of employment. Much of Sloane’s job does involve getting inside the heads of a lot of important people. For the sake of this episode, we’re going to turn the tables and understand more about her.

(Obviously, there’s a part of us that hopes that this person from her past could be a great conduit to Sloane talking about her feelings for Gibbs … but it may be best not to get our hopes up. Tonally, we’re also not sure that the timing is 100% right. Still not giving up hope for the future!)
