The Resident season 2 episode 18 preview: The truth about Julian

The Resident season 2 episode 5

The Resident is finally giving you what you want … at least if what you want is to finally get some actual answers about Julian. This show’s stalled so much on this you would think that it was an 30 year old jalopy trying to make its way to a repair shop. We’ve waited and waited and waited … and now you have to wait at least one more week. Season 2 episode 18, entitled “Emergency Contact,” is when all of the information is going to be revealed! Let’s hope that it is actually worth having to wait for the better part of three-plus months.

Julian’s fate to us is obviously top billing for this episode — if we were to conjure up a theory here, it’s that she found a way to escape being submerged and has been off somewhere, in witness protection trying to tell authorities what she knows. Maybe that’s wishful thinking — and maybe tonight’s episode 17 is going to dash whatever hopes and dreams that we’ve got, if there’s some big reveal that we learn prior to Devon getting the a-ha moment.

Beyond Julian, get ready for a story all about family, and about getting an opportunity to see what happens when combustible elements come into contact. For some more news on that, and The Resident season 2 episode 19 in general, check out the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:

Chastain picks up the pieces after the fall out with the corrupt medical device company Quovadis, leaving Marshall ready to charter new territory in the medical field, and Devon to finally discover the truth about what happened to Julian Booth (guest star Jenna Dewan). As Conrad and Alec team up to help a young gymnast experiencing mysterious symptoms, Nic focuses on her sister, who’s back with their estranged father, Kyle (guest star Corbin Bernsen), in tow. Meanwhile, Bell rushes to Kit’s aid when her ex-husband comes to the ER needing emergency surgery in the all-new “Emergency Contact” episode of THE RESIDENT airing Monday, March 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (RES-218) (TV-14 L, V)

The key combustible elements here are Nic, her sister, and her dad coming into orbit. Kyle is estranged for a reason, people! He may be cruel, abusive, flighty, or an opportunist. No matter who he is, we at least do embrace Corbin Bernsen in the role. We’ve made no secret of our love of Psych, and any chance we get to see a cast member of that show in something else is a chance to smile. (Yet, we gotta think that Nic’s father doesn’t have a lot in common with Shawn Spencer’s father — who was a nice guy with a big heart underneath being a tough guy who didn’t willingly want to respect his son.)

After this episode, you will have learned a lot about these characters. Knowledge is power, right? It’s also the optimal path to the future, and that fateful home stretch where the writers amp up the crazy in hopes of leaving you begging for a season 3. By the way, what is Fox even waiting for? We get it that they got some tough choices to make because of the shortened lineup this fall, but if we were them, we’d just announce the renewal, bask in the goodwill, and then focus on some other shows that need that support a little bit more.
