Kit Harington, Emma Stone hosting SNL; BTS, Sara Bareilles performing
As reported previously, Killing Eve star Sandra Oh is poised to host the upcoming March 30 episode; today, we’re adding Kit Harington and Emma Stone to the list.
Kit Harington – The Game of Thrones star is set to host the upcoming April 6 episode, making him the second star from the HBO mega-franchise to officially get the gig! He will be joined by musical guest Sara Bareilles, which should be exciting for everyone — especially in New York. She’s a gifted singer/songwriter, she’s performed on Broadway, and it certainly feels like she could cameo in a couple of sketches.
Obviously, though, if we’re talking about cameos it makes sense to try and get another Game of Thrones cast member or two to stop by. Given that Peter Dinklage (who is the other star from Game of Thrones to previously get the gig) is local, he’s a possibility — maybe for a “Space Pants” reprisal? Many other cast members may also be around, given that the press tour for the final season should be in full gear. (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has made a brief appearance on the show in the past.) The final Game of Thrones season is set to debut in all of its glory on April 14; brace yourself for dragons, death, and people complaining on social media since that happens anytime there is a final season of anything.
(If you missed the recent trailer for Game of Thrones season 8, for whatever reason, you can watch it over here.)

Emma Stone – Meanwhile, the actress is set to host for the fourth time on April 13, meaning that she’s one gig away from the famed five-timers’ club! It’s actually been a while since Stone hosted and she’s always a welcome host — she’s funny, game to mock herself, and seems to be really loved by the cast and crew. As big of a star as she is, she may actually be getting overshadowed by the musical guest for this show in BTS, arguably one of the biggest boy bands of the past several years. They’re making their SNL debut, and we feel like the show’s looking to smash a few records on their YouTube channel with their performances after the fact. (We also wonder how many viewers through out most of Asia are going to be looking to catch the show live?)
BTS is brilliant marketing on the part of SNL and beyond that, this does remind everyone that this is the late-night cultural institution that nobody can match. There’s very little like being on this show with its unique energy (and also super-small stage) that can make performances tough. You gotta get creative to succeed there!
