There are few things that excite us as much as the idea of a “Psych” musical episode; as a matter of fact, this may even top the show’s episodes about a Spanish soap opera and a rip-off of “The Bachelor.” We didn’t think that the producers would be able to find a way to top this level of excitement, but they have.
(Warning: the following contains spoilers, at least in the way of familiar faces who are going to be making an encore.)
In a post on Twitter, star Dule Hill confirmed that we are going to be seeing an appearance on this coming season from none other than Ally Sheedy’s infamous character of Yang. If you think back to the show’s past, this character has been a part of one of the show’s most fascinating and twisted mysteries that lasted over the course of several seasons; she was one of the only real formidable villains that the show has ever seen before, even if the end involving Mr. Yin felt a little bit like a letdown.
As for the story of this musical, details are still being kept tightly under wraps, but this is going to be a two-hour spectacular that should appeal to longtime fans of the show who have been hoping for an extra dose of silliness. When you are on the air for an incredible seven seasons, there really are not too many places that you can go that have not been traveled to at some point already. With that in mind, we really just give the writers, the actors, and the rest of the team credit for being able to take such a huge risk here. Some musical episodes of shows are great (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), while others are beyond terrible (“Grey’s Anatomy”).
