The Walking Dead season 9 episode 13 preview: Daryl’s mission in ‘Chokepoint’
Obviously, we know that Daryl isn’t the most social person in the world. He’s spent a good bit of his time over the past several years living as a hermit. It feels (at least subconsciously) like there were a lot of people who wanted to see him become a leader following the departure of Rick Grimes. He’s just not wired in that sort of way and it’s not how he sees himself. Daryl is the sort of person that is there when he is needed – happy to help, go on a supply run, or jump into action with his crossbow, but he doesn’t want to lead anyone.
Below, you can get a sense of what to expect in “Chokepoint,” both in terms of Daryl and some other characters on the show:
Daryl’s daring rescue mission forces Alpha to unleash a group of her own to retrieve what belongs to her, even if the price is paid in blood; the Kingdom’s plans to reunite the communities are put in jeopardy.

Is there a chance that there will be a price paid in blood during this episode? We don’t necessarily think that this will be the case. One of the things that is probably somewhat blown out of proportion are the number of deaths with this show. Sure, there are characters who are killed off, but it’s not every week. Beyond just that, there are also a higher percentage of characters to be killed off on this show. It’s a little bit easier to leave a trail of dead bodies when there are simply more people around!
This episode could offer you a chance to see Alpha act desperately and when that happens, it can’t be good for anyone. We think that the Kingdom’s plans are a little more in good faith and something that the entire world of The Walking Dead should welcome. We’ve long felt like if Hilltop, Alexandria, the Kingdom, and other communities all got on the same page, there is a chance that we’d have something closer to an actual, functioning society. The major things that are standing in their way are ego, conflicts between specific characters, and also the individual threats facing each community that are causing them to have tunnel-vision … let alone some of the stuff that is happening with Alpha. It’s fair to say that an organization like the Whisperers is the sort who would distract everyone from making peace and coming together.
