‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Colin O’Donoghue, Captain Hook promoted

We have yet to even catch our first scene of Captain Hook on “Once Upon a Time” just yet, but if you base a general impression on the actions of the production staff, it looks as though he could be one of the greatest characters to turn up on the series yet.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly (who also first published the photo to the left), Colin O’Donoghue has been promoted to series regular for his role as the show’s latest Big Bad in Captain Hook. He was originally scheduled to just appear as a recurring part beginning with the show’s fourth episode, which is going to be entitled “The Crocodile” (and this could very well be a sign that this will focus in part on his backstory). However, it appears as though the writers and producers really liked what they were seeing from the actor, making him the first character really since the series was in casting to receive a series regular promotion without even having an episode. Air Both Meghan Ory (Red) and Emilie de Ravin (Belle) received a similar sort of promotion over the summer, but this was after they starred in at least a few episodes of the series.

Sadly, we really don’t know too much else about Captain Hook’s presence or role on the show just yet, though the first teaser trailer for the show at Comic-Con does lead us to believe that we are at least going to see the character turn up in Storybrooke at least on one occasion.

Are you even more excited about Hook now that you know just how much confidence the producers obviously have in O’Donoghue’s ability?
