Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 18 spoilers: Joan Collins’ big episode!

On paper, Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 18 has to be one of the more entertaining ones that you’re going to see this season. You’re going to get Joan Collins coming as Rachel’s mother — why wouldn’t this be fun? The only thing that could be more entertaining than just the casting is knowing, per early indications, that she may be more fond of Steve than she is her own former son-in-law.

There’s something about seeing these two try to react to gym culture that, at least on paper, sounds endlessly entertaining.

“Ai no i ka ‘ape he mane’o no ko ka nuku” – Tani and Junior go undercover at a gym to track down a deadly batch of steroids that’s killing users before the drugs claim any more victims. Also, Danny and MacGarrett sub as bodyguards for Danny’s high maintenance ex-mother-in-law, Amanda Savage (Joan Collins), a wildly famous romance novelist with whom he has never gotten along, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, March 8 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

More than likely, this episode is going to prove to be great from a backstory perspective, especially since it’s a nice window into a very specific part of Danny’s past. What sort of role did Rachel’s mom have in their relationship back in the day? We have to imagine that she’s got very high standards to meet, especially since a) she’s famous and b) her job probably means that you’ve got a lot to live up to when it comes to romance. Can you ever match the passion of her characters? Since Danny was with her daughter, that probably only added to the pressure to somehow be better than these fictional people in what is, quite possibly, an unrealistic world.
