NCIS season 16 episode 14 video: McGee’s computer communication

Is NCIS about to kick off a winning streak? The general internet consensus is that last week’s “She” is one of the best we’ve seen in some time. It’s going to be hard to live up to that Tuesday with “Once Upon a Tim,” mostly because it doesn’t seem to be altogether related to Ziva and some of the information that Bishop discovered. We still think that this information will become important to the story again … but probably not for a little while, knowing the way that NCIS tends to tell stories.

What NCIS will be bringing to you on Tuesday night could be very much a good episode in its own right, largely because it is putting a longtime cast member in Tim McGee front and center. We’ve already told you a little bit about the story’s central premise — Tim will be forced to revisit his old high school after an old computer password of his is linked to the location. Yet, in this new sneak preview below, it seems as though someone is going to be communicating with him via an old computer. There’s a fascinating back-and-forth that exists here, one that leads to Tim being told that there is a mysterious package hidden in the stairwell.

This is where some of the fear and the danger comes from, and this is likely why Tim tells Delilah to call 911 and Gibbs while making sure the kids are safe. (Isn’t it nice to get Margo Harshman back on the show?) This episode is going to mark a great opportunity to see where McGee is at this point in his life, while also explore a little bit more of the past. Even in this sneak peek you hear him talk about the Navy and how it’s something that he never really sought out when he was younger.

Even if “Once Upon a Tim” doesn’t live up to the greatness of “She” that aired before it, all signs do point to this being a fun, fascinating episode that will offer up a nice slice of life for McGee — when NCIS does focus on its individual characters, it rarely does anything wrong.
