The Walking Dead season 9 episode 10 is airing on AMC tomorrow, and within this episode, we’re going to be seeing more of Tara in a leadership role. The sneak peek below is proof.

One of the things that is so interesting with where we are right now in the series is that with certain key players gone, others are going to have to step up. You almost get to see the spirit of people like Rick and Maggie (who are both technically alive, albeit MIA) within people now like Tara, who take on added responsibility. We’ll see more of the world through her eyes and we think that this is a pretty cool thing for the long-term success of this show.
Let’s also say this for a moment — is The Walking Dead suddenly now so not-hip-anymore that it is actually hip? Think about it this way — there was a long period of time in which there were snarky comments online a la “who cares anymore?” or “who’s still watching this?”. Yet, those comments have become so tired that having that particular hot-take isn’t altogether interesting. Instead, it feels like there’s an interesting second life to the show now and a chance to really just focus on delivering great content. Without the ratings pressure that the show originally had, it can really find its way and be its own thing to please its core fans.
The big reveal that is at the heart of this particular sneak peek is the discovery of Alden and Luke’s horses, and also the realization from Tara that there may be so many more Whisperers out there than they were initially told. This causes her to rethink her strategy, and she does her best to clue everyone in on the plan to trust no one and be super-careful. She, like so many other longtime characters, is starting to adjust to the notion that not all walkers are actually that anymore. Not all members of the walking dead are actually that.
Also this weekend, be prepared to get more insight into Samantha Morton’s Alpha — she’s someone we do need to know more about in order for the story to work. We may not get every finer detail under the sun, but at least a little more insight would be nice.
