The Walking Dead season 9 episode 10 preview: ‘Omega’; search for the missing

Walking Dead season 8

What lies ahead on The Walking Dead season 9 episode 10? For the second episode of 2019, there will be more of the Whisperers! Granted, this shouldn’t really surprise you. The writers took their time getting to this point and because of that, they are likely going to do whatever they can in order to emphasize these people to the best of their ability now. Even the title here in “Omega” is a clear reference to them — after all, they are led by Samantha Morton’s character of Alpha.

Before diving any deeper, let’s go ahead and share the official The Walking Dead season 9 episode 10 synopsis below with further information on what lies ahead:

“A new arrival at the Hilltop opens up about the leader of a group of mask-wearing savages. A search party sets out on a daring mission to find two missing friends.”

Through this, we get a strong indicator that we are about to learn a good bit more information about Alpha — while the Whisperers are not named in the synopsis, it’s pretty darn hard to think that AMC is referring to just about anyone else here. She is the character who much of the story could be based around and we are absolutely intrigued by how this show is going to continue to interpret these villains.

There may also still be a few degrees of the writers also continuing to figure things out. After all, they need to given that this show is very much at a creative crossroads right now. They’ve lost Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan, and moving forward they are also set to lose, as mentioned, Danai. That’s a lot of change for a longstanding show, and we’ve mentioned already that we think the exit of Chandler Riggs is the one that may hurt the show the most. After all, he was the moral compass in a lot of ways, and it’s especially sad given that Carl had so much material in the comic books that we’re not getting a chance to see now.

Let’s just hope that over the next seven episodes, The Walking Dead does the Whisperers justice, while also of course trying to set the stage for whatever is next beyond them. Their presence is far from the end of the story.
