Shadowhunters season 3 spoilers: What follows Clary’s ‘death’

Shadowhunters season 3 spoilers

The premiere of Shadowhunters season 3 is coming up on Freeform a week from Monday, and we know that there’s a lot to look forward to when the winter premiere arrives! There are great relationship moments, plenty of action, but above all else, a big cliffhanger that needs to be resolved. We’re of course talking about the state of Clary.

What we know entering this upcoming episode is that Clary is alive. Yet, that doesn’t mean that everyone else is acutely aware of this. There’s going to be a lot of pain that some of these characters go through as a result of what they think happened.

Speaking via TV Guide, here is some of what Katherine McNamara had to say on the aftermath of this big cliffhanger:

“As far as the rest of the gang knows, Clary’s dead, and Simon thinks he killed her … So the fact that Simon thinks he killed his best friend is kind of going to weigh heavily on him. Jace, the last interaction he and Clary had was him throwing her off the roof… You see it affect everyone in the Institute and outside the Institute, but I think it becomes a catalyst for what happens next.”

For a few more specifics of how Jace is feeling, especially when it comes to his guilt at the heart of season 3B, check out some more of what Dominic Sherwood himself has to say:

“He’s turned a lot of that guilt in on himself, not just from these things that have happened but also going back through Imogen, trying to kill Alec, then going even farther back like the sword and dying. Everything that’s happened to him, he’s now turning in on himself.”

For some characters other than Clary, be prepared to see them have to accept their vulnerability and realize that sometimes, it’s okay to not be okay. It’s acceptable to reach out to others and realize that you need some help. It’s only human for people to feel that way and rely on others to make it through. We know that Clary will eventually come back to the rest of the group, but even when that happens some of that emotional support may still be necessary. Based on what we’re hearing, she’s not exactly going to be the same person she once was.
