NCIS season 16 episode 16 spoilers: Robert Wagner’s return; other questions

Before we start to dive into some of that, though, let’s go ahead and share the official NCIS season 16 episode 16 synopsis with some more information as to what’s coming:
“Bears and Cubs” – Jimmy is torn between family and work after his father-in-law, Ed (Larry Miller), asks him to tamper with evidence from NCIS’ current murder investigation. Also, Ed’s poker buddy, Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. (Robert Wagner), offers to help with the case, on NCIS Tuesday, March 5 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
We’re happy that there is a chance to see a big story for Jimmy coming up, mostly because it doesn’t really feel like Brian Dietzen has had one for most of the season. Also, we do appreciate getting a chance to possibly learn more about him via his father-in-law. Of course, we know many a diehard NCIS fan will feel rather happy to see Robert Wagner now back on the show.
Of course, we do now have one more question worth wondering here with Wagner’s return in mind — and it relates to what we now know about Ziva. Is his arrival into the story going to mean anything to Ellie Bishop? She’s now holding onto this secret that nobody else on the show knows, and given the lengthy history that is there between Tony Jr. and Ziva, you would think that this is some information that Tony would want to know. Seeing Senior around could remind Bishop of this.
Is it true that Bishop could just reach out to Tony outright and tell him the info she knows, in the event she wanted to do that? Sure, but seeing Senior around could be a little bit more of a direct reminder of the situation and also what she should or shouldn’t do in this particular moment. (There isn’t a lot of information that is out there right now, but we don’t think that Tony knows that Ziva is still alive — why would she be so secretive in the note to Bishop otherwise?) We do think that Ellie will keep it, at least for now, just because this establishes a more interesting connection that could be played up further down the road.
As much fun as it is to speculate, we’d be shocked if Ziva has a big presence in this episode — clearly, the producers are waiting to deliver something big down the road.
