‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: Nina Dobrev narrates new opening sequence

When “The Vampire Diaries” kicks off its fourth season on The CW a week from Thursday, the producers are going to do a pretty smart thing: assume that the viewers for the show are not necessarily people who have watched the show night in and night out over the course of the past few years.

With that in mind, the producers have crafted a brand-new opening sequences featuring Nina Dobrev front and center, and she works to narrate what exactly the state of life is at the moment in Mystic Falls. There are plenty of humans running amok, sure, but there is also a fair share of supernatural creatures including the likes of vampires, werewolves, hybrids, witches, and of course doppelgangers (even if we have no see Katherine in almost a year now). As the show flashes to some important characters such as Damon, Klaus, and Tyler Lockwood, Elena also mentions that for a long time, she was human … until now. The season then picks up, and we are going to see what happens pretty much right away when it comes to her transition into a vampire. While we are assuming that some people (including the likes of Stefan Caroline) are probably going to be willing to help their newest addition into the vampire fold out, some other people (including Damon) may not ultimately be so kind. By the end of the premiere, we should hopefully know whether or not there is a way to cure Elena of what she has turned into, or if this is just going to be the way she lives her life from here on out.

Do you think that this introduction serves as a great way to usher in new fans while simultaneously reminding old viewers of some of the events that have transpired?
