Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers renewed for season 18, season 10
It’s now official: You’re going to be seeing even more of Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers for some time in the future.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox’s two animation series are going to be coming back for a season 18 and a season 10, respectively. These renewals were never really in doubt — as a matter of fact, they folks behind the scenes have likely gotten an indication that they were coming for some time now. There are a number of reasons to not keep people in suspense when it comes to the future of these shows, with the #1 one being that you want to give the producers plenty of time in order to work their magic. There’s a pretty-long development process when it comes to both of these shows and you want to make sure that you give the animators plenty of time.
While you could easily make the argument that Fox needs some new Sunday-night hits to go along with these two shows plus The Simpsons, why would they really push to change things up? At the moment, there is really no need for them to do so. We’re talking at the moment about three shows that still draw big numbers (especially during the NFL season), and three shows that could go on for a rather-long time still. So long as the ratings are there, why not find a way to make that happen?
The new seasons of Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are going to premiere in the fall, most likely — the irony here is that these two shows have a playfully-contentious relationship with each other. Even when Family Guy aired its recent controversial White House episode, they had a few jabs at Bob’s Burgers thrown in there. These shows are all a part of a fantastic animated ecosystem, and as Fox’s lineup shrinks in order to accommodate the WWE next fall, we do think that some of these shows are going to be more important than ever before.
