Riverdale season 3 spoilers: Chad Michael Murray books arc!
We also should just say for a moment that it’s kind of shocking that we’re referring to Chad Michael Murray as nostalgia in any way. This is a guy who has done a lot of great stuff over the years, but most notably One Tree Hill.
So who is he going to be playing here? Per Variety, the actor has a recurring as Edgar, the “enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm. He arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of the once-wholesome town. Edgar appears to be a charming and handsome guru, but underneath may lie his more sinister agenda.” That’s a pretty fantastic character description, and it does indicate to us perhaps more so than anything else that we’re going to be seeing a story that is all sorts of weird and exciting. We’re very much intrigued as to how everything is going to play out here.
One of the things that we have come to know over the years when it comes to Riverdale is that despite this being an adaptation of a light-hearted comic, this show does a great job at being dark, weird, and all sorts of intense. We imagine that there are a few more twists that are coming up and personally, we’re more than psyched to see what a number of those look like.
Of course, what we wonder here is this: Edgar seems like a prime candidate to throw Riverdale into further ruin more so than someone who is going to help it. Often times, characters like him have a tendency to be a little bit disillusioned, if not overall dangerous and worth being concerned over. We’ll just have to see where the story goes from start to finish.
Of course, knowing Riverdale there’s a chance that this role could be so much more substantial than it seems — though, it also could be a situation where the character is killed off a little bit sooner rather than later.
