Ryan Murphy looking to expand beyond ‘American Horror Story,’ ‘Glee’ … again

Ryan Murphy does not seems to be shying away from being one of the busiest producers in Hollywood in any capacity at the moment. As a matter of fact, he is embracing it now more than ever.

Despite having a trio of shows already at his arsenal including “Glee,” “American Horror Story,” and “The New Normal,” Deadline reports that Murphy is also now looking to add a pair of other new shows to what is an incredibly busy slate. At the moment, there are not too many details known about the shows, but here is what we have available.

“Montauk” – This first project would be for the same network that has revitalized his career in Fox, and the series is currently being described as a sort of “family thriller” that revolves around the famous town at the end of Long Island. Think of it as “Revenge,” except with a bit less intense content and with slightly-cheaper homes. Brian Miller (“Apollo 18”) is working to spearhead this project.

A new half-hour comedy – Meanwhile, the next project comes from writers Matt Spicer and Max Winkler, but unfortunately, we really do not know that much more about it at this very moment. What’s this series about? We really don’t have any other information on the potential project just yet, but as with “Montauk,” both Murphy along with Dante Di Loreto will be producing.

It’s certainly understandable why Murphy is having so much success getting ideas off the ground. “Glee” has become an international sensation, and “American Horror Story” is one of the most buzz-worth shows on FX. Even if “The New Normal” has not been a ratings smash thus far, even it has developed a devoted following.

Are you surprised that Murphy is having so much ease getting shows off the ground?
