Do you want to know what’s coming up on Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 14? This is a story that will be like no other, mostly because of the conflict that was there virtually from start to finish. It’s cop versus cop, and there is a powerful case that is going to be at the center of right about everything.

So what is the focal point of this particular episode? Think along the following lines — a woman who is on trial for killing her abusive husband. Why did she do it, and is there a case to be made here? That’s something that threatens to tear the SVU apart. There are differences of opinion from within the unit itself, and that’s without even bringing Peter Stone into the mix. At the end of the promo, he tells Olivia to take her “bleeding heart” out of his courtroom. A more personal or emotional argument is clearly not something that he wants to deal with and because of that, he’s doing his part to usher her away.

Yet, here’s the thing about Olivia Benson — we often know that her thoughts and opinions are justified, and we definitely do think that she’s going to find a way to make her voice heard over the course of the episode. It’s just hard to imagine this show telling a good story otherwise. The question that you do have to wonder about with this in mind is simply this: How will Olivia make her voice heard, and will it matter? Unfortunately, not every episode ends in the way in which you would expect. There are also some other questions to wonder about the case and the act of murder itself. SVU doesn’t often deliver the story you expect from the start.

From a guest-starring perspective, there is clearly a lot to love about this episode. The woman on trial is played by Daredevil and NCIS: New Orleans actress Amy Rutberg. Meanwhile, we also know that there is a notable appearance in this episode from Ray Donovan alum Paula Malcomson. If you love great acting and compelling SVU drama (otherwise known as what this show does the best), you’ll probably find yourself enjoying this installment very much. We’re just glad that we will be seeing a lot of powerful drama as we move towards a hiatus coming a little bit later this month.
