‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: The hunt for a new doctor

Even despite their new hires, “Grey’s Anatomy” looks to still be adding some more members of its medical team pretty soon. So who will be joining the staff next? Let’s just say that they are someone who could serve as a replacement for the dearly departed. (Warning: stop reading now if you have yet to watch the premiere.)

According to a new story from E! News, producers behind the ABC hit are currently casting a character who could be best described in many ways as a female version of Mark: she is smart and extremely charismatic, after all. Sadly, the only other detail we know at the moment is that this doctor has dark hair. Sadly, we don’t know this doctor is just yet, but we also have a suspicion that this is going to be a pretty lengthy search spanning some other hospitals.

There’s no question that Mark’s sudden death has already left a pretty gaping hole, and we are not sure if anyone can fill his shoes. He, Owen, and Derek are in our minds the only three guys who really filled that sort of “alpha male of the hospital” role, and that is going to be a tough thing to replace. Granted, we do think that the show may be so preoccupied dealing with such things as Arizona’s amputated leg and April and Jackson’s relationship to really invest that much time worrying about it.
