Death in Paradise season 8 episode 5 video: Who’s on the boat?
Based on the preview that CarterMatt has for you below, there’s a significant reason to worry, as a mysterious and bloody body finds its way to shore in the midst of some sort of celebration. Who is it? The concern among the faces of many suggests that this character could be more important than other dead bodies we’ve seen on the series in the past. Their arrival is also at an especially-inopportune time, given that Florence and Patrice are getting closer to being married and everyone should be preparing for a celebration. We’ve already heard many a theory that the deceased could be someone close to one of the main characters — if that’s not the case, then they must have a larger significance to the community as a whole.
As for what else is happening in this episode, it does look as though something seems to be upsetting Patrice separate from the rest of the story, and we could see a strain put on him and Florence right at a time when the two should be happiest.
Two-part stories are not something that Death in Paradise does on a regular basis, and this in itself should serve as a rather big hint that we’re gearing up for one of the biggest episodes in some time. It’s a story that the creative team determined was too large to just cram into a single episode, and it could have ramifications that could actually last a while. There is sometimes a case of selective memory with this show, where characters somehow manage to forget most of what they just went through at the start of the next new episode. It does give them the ability to move forward and focus on what’s in front of them in a way that maybe they would not be able to otherwise. That may not be able to happen so much here.
So while this episode of Death in Paradise may be a little bit more important than most, we do not imagine that the show will shift too much from its creative DNA. There are still going to be some fun moments, and also opportunities to see why people would want to live in the fictional Saint Marie enough to put up with all the murders that happen there.
