Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 17 spoilers: Alex O’Loughlin directs!

There are a couple of things worth noting about Hawaii Five-0 season 9 episode 17, but many of them start with the director! Alex O’Loughlin is taking on this role for the second time with this episode, and he’s doing so for a story that will be heavily about Beulah Kaole and his character of Junior Reigns.

For those surprised that Alex is directing an episode that may not feature him too much, don’t be — this may have been a preference of his, given that he said previously that one of his biggest challenges directing the first time was having to direct himself in several scenes. It’s easier on actors when they direct episodes in which they are not that prominent, given that they have to find themselves constantly changing roles throughout it.

One other thing worth noting here is simply the air time — this episode is actually going to be airing on Friday, February 22 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern — it’s the second of two installments airing that night! (Head over to the link here to get some more news on the first one.)

“E’ao lu’au a kualima” – Junior is torn between his duties as a member of Five-0 and his feelings for his former girlfriend when her new love, the father of her son, is one of the culprits in a bank-heist-turned-homicide, on HAWAII FIVE-0, at a special time Friday, Feb. 22 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Episode directed by series star Alex O’Loughlin.

The woman who you are going to be seeing on this episode with a romantic history to Junior is Layla, who you have met on the show in the past. Bringing her back will cause Junior to reflect a little bit on his life … but we also hope that it does push him forward in a direction where he starts to think about some other things. Personally, we hope that he starts thinking a little bit more about a future with Tani since it is so clear that there are feelings that the two of them have for each other. They may not get together immediately, but we do think that there is a future there.
