Is NCIS: Los Angeles new tonight on CBS? What lies ahead
The unfortunate news is that, due to Super Bowl LIII airing tonight, there is no new installment of the crime drama — not that this should really be a surprise to anyone out there. It’s a fairly common practice for networks to shy away from airing some of their best programming of the night opposite the big game, and tonight, CBS is airing the Super Bowl in the first place. Because of that, there’s no way for NCIS: Los Angeles to come on even if the network wanted it to happen — unless, of course, it got the post-Super Bowl airing. That’s being saved instead for new show The World’s Best, which makes a certain degree of sense given the fact that it’s a new show. If you are CBS, it more than makes sense that you would want to amplify a new show by having it air after the big game.
The unfortunate thing here at the moment is that you are going to have to wait for a little while, even beyond tonight, to see what lies ahead for Sam, Callen, Kensi, and Deeks — the next new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles is going to be airing on CBS come Sunday, February 17, and over the course of that hour, the #1 priority is going to be having a chance to see the other side of the big “Smokescreen” cliffhanger.
The last time we saw some of the characters on the CBS show, they were in a really precarious position — Sam and Callen were trapped inside a theater alongside a number of innocent civilians. A terrorist group was threatening more action in Los Angeles and because of that, the rest of NCIS could be on high alert in order to stop them. We’ll likely pick up almost immediately after the events of this past episode, which means that we’ll be thrown almost immediately into the action and the drama.
One more thing to think about
Remember that conversation that we saw on this past episode with Deeks and Kensi, one in which they talked about their future? We have to imagine that this is going to be coming back in some capacity. Even if it doesn’t happen immediately, they could be talking about their long-term future not too far down the road. It’s something to store in the back of your mind, at the very least.
