Cable Ratings: Siren season 2, Suits season 8, and Good Trouble
As it turns out, a fluctuation is precisely what we got with the Freeform series entering its second episode. Thursday night’s new episode held reasonably steady with a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic but did lose a good chunk of viewership on its way to finishing with around 530,000 as a whole. This means that the series is, on average, down slightly versus some of the season 1 averages.
Is this a cause for major concern? Not at the moment, especially since we’re talking a very small decrease in viewership. Also, Siren does have a loyal social following and then you look at the performance of some other Freeform shows across the board, Siren is still on the higher end of things. It’s hard to really imagine a scenario where this show gets put out to pasture.
Speaking of other Freeform shows… – This past episode of Good Trouble ended up generating a 0.1 rating in the demo and then just around 310,000 live viewers. The big concern we’ve got here, beyond the numbers being lower than they were for the final season of The Fosters, is that they’ve dropped every single week so far and you want to see that pattern slowed down. If it doesn’t, you’re probably going to continue to be concerned over the show’s future for the rest of the season. It will be hard not to be, all things considered.
Suits season 8 – Finally, let’s move away from Freeform for a moment to look at another top-tier cable offering. After posting one of its lowest total viewerships to date for the midseason premiere, Wednesday’s episode managed to pull a 0.2 rating and over 900,000 viewers — a nice increase, at least in the latter number. We know now that the ninth season is going to be the last for Suits and with that, there’s nothing too specific to be concerned over. Yet, it still would be nice to see the show end with its biggest bang possible.
