The Flash season 5 spoilers: Meet Sherloque’s Irene Adler!

Sherloque Wells

We gotta admit — it’s going to be funny if The Flash somehow includes more Irene Adler on this season than Elementary has in six seasons so far.

According to a new report from TVLineAccording to Jim and Two and a Half Men alum Kimberly Williams-Paisley has been cast to play multiple versions of Irene Renee Adler, Sherloque Wells’ ex-wife from Earth-221. We know that this character is known for having many wives, but for everyone out there who is a Sherlock Holmes fan, you know that Adler is one of his great loves. Wells also mentioned a version of Watson on this past episode as well.

As to what Adler is going to be bringing to the series, it should prove to be a good deal of fun — with the same for the series as a whole. This is a season that has built up Sherloque as one of its most-compelling characters after a slow start. He is one of the only people who is on to the fact that Nora West-Allen has a secret that she’s hiding from her parents, but he also does not have enough hard evidence just yet to make any accusation. He’s being rather smart in how he plays it, testing her and not doing something that he knows will lead to some distrust among Barry or Iris. He recognizes that of course, they are going to be more inclined than anyone to side with their daughter, even if Sherloque comes to them with suspicious evidence. He’s gotta be sure he can prove something.

As for when we will see Williams-Paisley stop by, think more than likely some weeks down the road since the casting is just being announced now. This does also suggest that the Cicada storyline will be around for a while longer, which we weren’t 100% sure of just because it’s hard to know how many showdowns you can have with a guy like this. (Last night, another potential villain was brought up in Red Death — read more about him over at the link here.)

This is not the first time that Williams-Paisley has worked with Tom Cavanagh; they previously worked together on How to Eat Fried Worms alongside the Darrow & Darrow mysteries. Having that established rapport is probably going to make this particular guest spot all the more fun.
