This Is Us season 3 episode 12 return date changed via State of the Union
Originally, the episode “Songbird Road: Part Two” (you can preview that in our video below, and subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube for more) was scheduled to air next Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. However, because of the shift of the State of the Union Address, we’re now going to be waiting until Tuesday, February 12 in order to see the next episode of This Is Us.
Typically, going a long stretch without seeing This Is Us on the air is painful; yet, this is somehow even more painful because we’re talking about getting some more closure to the story of Nicky Pearson. This is a man who we just saw in the flesh for the first time in the present; we know that Kevin is going to do what he can in order to help turn his life around. Sometimes, a little bit of family can go a long way and that is something that the Pearsons can provide … something that he does not have otherwise.
Because of this schedule pushback, we are also going to see a few different changes in the schedule down the road — the finale for This Is Us is now scheduled to air in April, which means that you will see the Pearsons at least a little bit later in the spring. You’re basically having a long hiatus right now and then a shorter one later … though we are aware of the fact that technically, there is no formal This Is Us season 4 renewal out there just yet. That seems like a foregone conclusion, and we wouldn’t be shocked if the network goes ahead and orders two more seasons to bring the total to five. We also wouldn’t be surprised if this show ends with either a potential fifth or sixth season; it was never meant to stick around for a super-long period of time.
At present, it’s not 100% confirmed what some other networks are going to be doing with their own programming for February 5; this is the first Tuesday of sweeps, so many networks are actually having to push back some legitimate, new programming to make room for the annual address. Ironically, it was originally supposed to happen tonight and all of the networks planned with that in mind.
