The Resident season 2 episode 12 video: AJ assigns out his patients

The Resident

Coming up on The Resident season 2 episode 12 on Fox Monday night, you will see AJ in a position that is somewhat-unexpected: One involving penance. This man is going to decide to steer clear of the OR, and in order to do that, he is handing out patients to any doctor who will heed his request.

For more information on this, just take a look at the sneak peek below as in it, you can see Dr. Austin proclaim that he is heading out as a guest lecturer to try to find a bit of humility. He feels responsible for the death of a patient and this is his way to try and make amends for it.

Here’s the ironic twist to all of it: It’s possible that AJ may not be guilty at all and that the patient’s death was due to a failing medical device. This is where the Quovadis storyline rears its ugly head once more! While Julian Lynn is missing in action, Mina may take it upon herself in this episode to dig in and search for answers. She may start to test medical devices herself in order to determine what truly happened here.

Even if the device was at fault rather than AJ, it still feels clear that the man could benefit from a nice slice of humble pie. It’s one thing to be incredibly confident in your abilities; it’s another altogether to let this ego at times cloud your judgment or destroy what little bedside manner you have. AJ has been, really from his first debut, a brilliant surgeon but a man with glaring weaknesses. He’s been so confident in his skill set, in fact, that he hasn’t felt the need to actually correct some of these said weaknesses. In this episode, we shall see if this is something that changes or he allows his confidence to continue to define him.

He should want to be better; we should all want to be better. This may also help him in the event he ever wants to be something more with Mina. This is something that feels as though it’s bubbling underneath the surface of much of what they do and is worth watching out for, whether it be through the remainder of season 2 or also a potential season 3.
