It’s a shame that we have to wait a good week and a half for Chicago Med season 4 episode 13 to air on NBC, mostly because of the power of what lies ahead.

Did April Sexton actually kill a patient — or, at the very least, allow them to die? That’s something that you have to wonder based on the promo below, which shows a heated confrontation between April and Ethan over someone the two have been tasked to treat. What we know about the patient themselves is fairly limited, other than the fact that they are someone who seems to be guilty of an unspeakable offense towards children. This is one of the challenges to being in the medical field — sometimes, you are tasked with treating people who are often despicable.

This may be, in part, why Ethan is asking some of the questions that he is towards April — we know just how big her heart is for people who often cannot defend themselves. If she knew that this is someone who committed atrocities towards children, it is not all that much of a challenge to conjure up reasons why she would do some of the things that Ethan is accusing her of doing. Still, if she’s not guilty of anything it is going to be hurtful to have these sort of claims thrown her way — this is him making some of the worst assumptions ever regarding her and, in turn, her having to emotionally process and deal with them.

While these two characters have been through quite a bit before, both in terms of their romantic relationship and also outside of it, it feels like we’re gearing up for one of their biggest stories to date. Be prepared for this episode to push the two characters to the limit as they start to ponder over whether or not they can continue to work together.

Hopefully, even in the midst of the hardest points of this episode, these characters do find a way to get to the other side of this problem. Beyond just that, they need to be able to trust each other. Without that, there is no foundation for their work.
