The Flash season 5 spoilers: Could we meet Sue Dearbon before long?

In speaking on this subject a little bit in a new interview with TV Guide, here is just a sample of what the actor had to say on the subject:
“We’re working our way towards [a love interest] … He has to work on himself a little more before that really comes in, but he’s done a lot of work on himself. If that had come in last year, I mean how would that have turned out for him? He was not ready for anything like that. He’s sort of worked the kinks out of his system, where he’s going to be ready for that very, very soon. I’m excited for that.”
So when it comes to possible love interests for this character, it really does feel like Sue Dearbon has to be at the top of the list, and for good reason. In the comics, she ends up becoming Sue Dibny and the two have a loving relationship. It makes sense for Ralph to not meet this character right away, largely due to the fact that he was still hanging out at gentlemen’s clubs and being a bit of a general perv. This is a guy who used to use grossness as a security blanket and with Team Flash, he’s evolved and become a little bit more of a natural leader. He’s got a community around him that he never quite had before in any capacity.
One thing that is worth stressing — the writers are not looking to make Ralph into a love interest for Caitlin. There was a clear decision against that last season and that trend appears to be continuing. We do think that the time is right to have a new Caitlin love interest again, but that’s only because the show has steered clear of this ever since Julian in season 3 — and even then, that was more of a case of him being into her than it was her being into him. We do think that she and Cisco both deserve to be happy. (Could they be happy with each other? There’s certainly a contingent of people out there who are rooting about it.)
