Is God Friended Me new tonight on CBS? A look at what’s ahead
However, that’s not actually going to happen. Tonight, the network is airing a new episode of Celebrity Big Brother instead of their freshman series featuring Brandon Michael Hall and Violet Beane. It’s something that we’ve been aware of for a little while, but that doesn’t make the news any less sad for viewers out there who want a little bit more of the show soon.
So when is the series going to return with new episodes? Think in terms of Sunday, February 17 — that’s when “The Trouble with the Curve” is going to air, and all signs suggest that this is going to be a pretty powerful episode. For starters, you’re going to have a storyline themed around baseball and beyond that, CC Sabathia is going to be making an appearance. For any Yankees fans out there, that’s going to be a fun addition to the series!
On the other side of this episode, we wouldn’t be shocked if there was another short hiatus. After all, is CBS really going to want to air new programming on February 24, directly opposite the Academy Awards? That’s just something that we’ve got a hard time envisioning right now, mostly because you want the series to get as good of ratings as possible. (For the record, we still think that there is a good chance of God Friended Me being renewed for another season, but because it is a co-production with CBS and Warner Bros. TV, it may take a little bit more time to figure out some of the negotiations.)
In general, there are six episodes left for this first season — which means to us that the remainder of season 1 is probably going to blow by. It’s crazy to think that we are already so deep into the run when there are so many big stories that are still worth telling, whether it be getting a chance to learn more about the God Account or building on some of the relationships that have already been established. These are threads that we absolutely want to see continued!
Hopefully, over the next week or two CBS will, at the very least, start to release more promotion for the next God Friended Me episode. That will start to make the wait a little bit easier.
