The Good Doctor season 2 episode 13 video: Shaun’s personal case

Based on the promo below, the St. Bonaventure Hospital will be working to find the right way to care for an autistic patient, someone who understandably has her own needs and things that need consideration. Given that Shaun is autistic himself, of course there will be doctors who look towards him for guidance. He has more of a shared experience with her, and he may be able to cater to her needs.
Yet, at the same time Shaun makes a clear point within this promo — he doesn’t want to be known for just his autism, and he doesn’t want to be useful in this case for that and that alone. That’s why he tells Morgan in the promo that he doesn’t want to be used for the case on the basis of his autism; that is when she reminds him that he is her doctor and she’s going to need him for treatment just as much as anything else.
For Shaun, much of The Good Doctor is about him finding his way in delicate positions — it’s about treatment, and it is also about learning. He wants nothing more to be accomplished in his field, but sometimes in order to do that, you also have to showcase a little bit more of yourself — even if that includes parts that you are not always comfortable sharing. Signs point towards this being a big part of his story this week and we more or less hope that he is ready to take a little bit of that on.
Outside the hospital, be prepared for the writers this week to dive a little bit more into what’s happening with Shaun and Lea. She has another new love interest and we imagine that this is going to be difficult for him, given that the feelings that he has. He’s going to have to be patient here and speak out about it, since that could only draw some more resentment.
