MacGyver season 3 episode 14 video: Is this how Jack Dalton leaves?

There’s a good chance you’ve learned already that George Eads is going to be departing MacGyver during this season, and that could happen as soon as Friday’s new episode. Based on the just-released promo via CBS, the odds appear likelier than ever that this is happening.

In the video below, you can see a story that is all about the hunt for a dangerous terrorist — one that Jack could end up helping to lead. Apparently, he is going to be assigned to track him down and lead a team; per Matty Webber, this is an assignment that will be open-ended.

When it was first reported that Eads was going to be leaving the show, this was a cause of great sadness for a number of different people out there. The choice for him to depart was his own, and with that in mind, it’s hard to be mad at the show itself for making this move. At least the producers are opting to seemingly write Jack out of the show, as opposed to just killing him off and eradicating him in that way. This means that they always have a chance to bring him back at some point down the road.

So while there could be some sadness to this episode in the event that Eads does leave, at the same time this episode should give you some of what you love about this show — including a ton of action and the Phoenix heroes taking on a mission! There’s even going to be a wedding involved.

As for how the writers are going to replace Jack, we’ve seen them do this in a few episodes already this season, using everyone from Leanna to some assorted guest stars including Bridget Regan. Eventually they could choose to bring on board another series regular, but for the rest of the season they could certainly spend some time having fun with a variety of different guest stars.
